JMS Talk, Lunch, Reading and Annual General Meeting
Tewkesbury and Tredington, Sunday, 11th August 2024

The Talk -The Tudor House Hotel, High Street, Tewkesbury GL20 5BH.
Tea and Coffee will be served at the Hotel from 10.30am and the talk will start at 11.15am

Johanna Roethe, Architectural Investigator for Historic England has recently carried out a Historic Building Assessment of The Tudor House Hotel. Some of the photographic material she used was supplied by JMS. Her report RRS38/2024 was published on 14th June 2024. Johanna will talk about the background to this report and her findings, with particular reference to the time when it was John Moore’s boyhood home.

The Lunch - At York Barn, Home Farm, Tredington Glos. GL20 7BP (approx. 7 minutes’ drive), for 1.00pm, to enjoy a buffet lunch together. The lunch menu details are shown below. Guests are welcome. Price – £20.00 per person towards the cost of the meal and service. Payment may be made direct into The John Moore Society bank account: The John Moore Society, Lloyds Bank plc, Sort Code 30-93-11. Ac. No. 00005279 - quoting your name and reference AGM or bring a cheque, made payable to THE JOHN MOORE SOCIETY on the day and give it to Tony at York Barn.

The Reading – Letters from John Moore to Michael Daunt 1941-1944 - will be given by JMS member Marian Waters who was married to Michael’s son, another Michael.

The AGM - Will follow the reading at 3.00 prompt. There is no charge for entry and there will be much to discuss. Please note that, whilst the meeting is open to all, only paid-up members may vote on resolutions.

If you intend to come – please notify Tony Boyse by Friday 26th July at the latest by email to members@johnmooresociety.org or telephone 07901 732921 and indicate:
a) If you intend to go to the Talk or just come to the Lunch, Reading and AGM; (it’s essential that he knows numbers exactly, so that The Tudor House Hotel, York Barn and the Caterers can all plan accordingly) and;
b) Importantly, if you have any special dietary requirements – e.g. vegetarian, coeliac or other.

If transport is required on the day, please let Tony know and he will see if it can be arranged through the JMS membership.
